Young people (outside school groups)

The Maison d’Izieu is open to young people aged 8 and older for visits and activities outside the school context. This takes the form of an accompanied visit of the Barn and House (half or full day) that includes activities selected according to the group leader’s project. Activities may include writing or artistic workshops, documentary workshops, topics for thought and discussion, debates, etc. This active exploration of the Memorial encourages participants to think about the relevance of history as well as racism, democracy and civic responsibility today.

For groups of adults, the Maison d’Izieu offers accompanied visits that include a tour of the Barn and House followed by video projections. These visits last a minimum of 2 hours.

For groups wishing to spend the day at the Maison d’Izieu site, visits/conferences can be arranged to explore a specific historical theme regarding the Second World War or the Shoah: Izieu children, relief networks, French internment camps, etc. The morning is dedicated to exploring the site, followed by a conference in the afternoon based on various documentary materials (films, text, photographs, etc.) from the Maison d’Izieu Documentation Centre.
